Salon Krenek

Analogue, modular sound synthesis forms the basis of electronic music – a fascination that also inspired the composer Ernst Krenek. During his stay in the legendary Cologne radio studios, he experienced Karlheinz Stockhausen’s pioneering experiments – a key moment that inspired him to buy a Buchla 100 modular synthesiser in 1967.

Today, modular synthesisers have become an integral part of music production. The MODULAR SYNTHESIZER ENSEMBLE conveys this world of sound in practical workshops that focus on experimentation, improvisation and, above all, making music together. In addition to the various forms of synthesis, other relevant topics will also be covered – including a detailed examination of the special features of Ernst Krenek’s Buchla synthesiser.
