The “Krenek FRAGMENT” project takes up a fictional idea by Ernst Krenek in order to think further about electronic music in his sense.
Compositions by Krenek are the starting material, the scores of which are scrutinized in order to extract fragments from them and transfer them to the instruments of the Modular Synthesizer Ensemble.
Common composition techniques of contemporary music (aleatoric, cancer formation, polyrhythmic, …) become playfully accessible.
They experiment, improvise and compose together in small groups.
The project took place on 20th and 21st of October 2020 and on 25th August 2021 at the Music School Krems.
Krenek Fragment is a cooperation between the Ernst Krenek Forum and the Krems Music School with the Modular Synthesizer Ensemble and was kindly supported by the Lower Austrian government.
